This kid knows how to get what he wants

This morning we were playing in Brayden's bedroom and he wanted to get on top of his toy shelf. I told him no, that it was for the toys and baskets. Determined to get on the shelf he got a toy basket, sat down inside of it and continued to point to the shelf. Maydson couldn't resist and this is where he ended up. He was so proud of himself!

Snow Day #3

After the sun came out yesterday we were sure that the kids would be going back to school. Not so. They are thrilled to be having snow day #3.

The last two days the kids have gone sledding, played in the snow and spent time at friends houses. Brayden loved sledding and jumping (more like falling) on the trampoline. Trent and I decided to tackle the redecorating project we have been talking about in the bathroom. We made it about half way through. Wonder how long it will take to finish it!

The second snow day Trent went back to work and the kids were all at friends houses and my car battery was dead so they were gone all day. It was kind of lonely around here and Brayden was very bored with just me. Last night I finally got everyone picked up and they were exhausted. I can't remember the last time they were all so tired. They have had a blast with the snow. Unfortunately today it seems that the only snow left is on the neighborhood roads so there is not much to play with. We are going to get the house back in shape and then find somewhere fun to go. If we have to have snow day #3 I guess we'll make the most of it!

The ice has arrived

We thought we might be able to sneak by without an Oklahoma ice storm this year but looks like it found us. It's about 20 degrees and slick. I was very surprised this morning when I went out. I didn't think it had really hit yet but we were slipping & sliding. The kids are excited. We let Preston stay home and because Trent had to close the office he checked the other kids out early. Now they are just keeping their fingers crossed that school will be cancelled tomorrow. I can't say that I am hoping for the same thing. At least they enjoy being outside even in the cold. They have already had a blast jumping on the trampoline and breaking the sheet of ice!

Keeping life interesting

I can always count on Brayden to keep things interesting. This boy cracks me up!

Who needs a spoon to eat yogurt!

Preston got in on the action here. They love bubbles!

Brayden figure out how to get the lid off his lotion. What better place to put it then in his hair.

I was rearranging furniture and here is where I found him, on top of the DVD player. I wonder what he was thinking!

More days like that

Yesterday was one of those days that, when the day is finished, I think to myself, I wish we had more days like that. It started with Brayden waking up happy and all of the other kids getting up themselves. Everyone got ready for school on time without a single fight or complaint. I actually ran errands with both boys and Brayden did not throw a single fit in the store. He even sat and ate 3 pieces of chicken, ok he didn't exactly sit but he stood on the bench and didn't climb onto the table once and he actually ate. Preston found that his new toy did not work and didn't throw a fit. He was upset but handled it well. Brayden napped well and woke up happy, a rare thing. After school the big kids were playing in the neighborhood and I had to run an errand. Preston asked if he could go play with them and I hesitantly agreed. When I went to pick him up Austin said "no mom, he can stay, we're playing." This may sound like nothing but for those two it is HUGE! They have been struggling to get along and can rarely look at each other without fighting. For them to spend the afternoon together with Austin's friends was amazing. It gives me a glimmer of hope that someday they will be great friends. Madyson walked home from her friends with no complaints. Everyone ate what I fixed for dinner and was happy with it. I got to finish the night off with Bunko and a report when I got home that everyone did great. These are the great days that make remember and appreciate why I am a full time mom!

BRRRRR

It's freezing outside today. Right now it's 23 but feels like 11 with the wind chill. Yet my boys were still jumping on the trampoline. What is wrong with them??!! At least with today's cold came a few snow flurries. The kids were so excited when they got up this morning the just kept telling each other "look, it's snowing." Too bad none of it is sticking!

Is there anything cuter?

Is there anything cuter than a boy in goggles and jammies?!

This is the face he made when we told him to say cheese:

He was having so much fun taking pictures he kept signing "more"

Brayden's attempt to put the goggles on by himself:

He loves his daddy:

Wiggle It

Last month Preston lost his first tooth! He was playing with legos and they were stuck together so he tried to get them apart by biting them. A second later he started screaming "my tooth is loose, my tooth is loose." That was about 4:00. The rest of the afternoon he would not stop wiggling the darn thing. At dinner he sat and cried because it hurt and he couldn't eat, but he wouldn't quit wiggling. His poor little gum beneath it looked bruised and was bleeding but he kept on wiggling! He was determined to get it out. About 8:00 Trent got home and he Preston asked him to pull it out w/floss. Trent tied it around the tooth and it slipped off. On his second attempt he was just about done tying it and Preston yanked on the floss and out popped his tooth. He was sooo excited!

Somehow I lost the pictures I took when it came out but here is his cute grin minus 1 tooth!

Sad to have it end

I hate to admit it but I am usually ready for a break to end and the kids to go back to school. This year however, I'm sad that their break is over. They did their fair share of arguing while they were home but in between being sick we had fun. We went to the Science Museum, bowling a few times, played games, watched movies, enjoyed being outside on the few warm days we were so lucky to have and just hung out. I think that Brayden and Preston really enjoyed having the big kids home and I loved it too.
It was also sooooo nice for Trent to have time off to spend with us. There is never enough time on the weekends to do much so this was an extra treat having him home for a few days in a row. He actually got to do all of the activities with us, which has never really happened before. He was also such a big help around the house and with the kids.
First day back to school in 2009!

Happy, but unfortunately not a healthy New Year

It's hard to believe that 2009 is here!

For the last couple of weeks we have been wondering what to do on New Year's Eve. We decided we would just kind of wait and see. It was a good thing we didn't make any big plans. The last few weeks of 2008 were not very healthy at our house. It started with Preston being sick, worked it's way through the family and back to Preston. So, we spent New Year's Eve at home with half the family sick. I guess being sick just helps us appreciate our good health that much more.

Madyson was feeling great so she went to a New Year's Eve Party and celebrated for all of us. Hopefully we will all feel better soon and and enjoy 2009.

We hope everyone else had a happy and safe New Year's Eve. We can't wait to see what the new year holds!

Pinching Pennies!

We were sitting watching TV when I realized Brayden was very quiet. I looked down and he was very carefuly putting pennies between each of his cute little toes!

Laundry Helpers

This in not exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted help with the laundry!
