Road Trip?

Packing the kids in the car and heading somwhere cooler was my first thought when I saw our weather forecast. It is too dang hot! The temp in my car reads 104. Lucky we have a "cool front" (I laugh when I hear the weather forecasters call it that) moving in on Sunday that will take us down to 92. Maybe we should have gone to California with Trent!

Little Mechanics

Our neighbor was working on his car this weekend and the boys were amazed. The wanted to watch everything he did and try it themselves. After 100 questions they got a chance to "help." They spent close to two hours helping "fix" the cars and playing w/the tools!

I Love Brother He Loves Me

It is so interesting to watch my kids grown and see their relationships with each other. When they were little Austin and Madyson were so close and were best friends. They kept each other busy and always played together. Maybe it's because they were so close in age and had no one else around. They are still friends but don't depend on each other as much now that they are older.

When Preston came along I thought he and Austin would buddy up and when I had Brayden I thought Madyson would be his best bud. I guess it just goes to show you never know what to expect. Right now Austin and Preston butt heads more than they get along, yet Madyson and Preston love to be with each other. They play all the time and get along great.

Madyson loves Brayden too and definitely has a maternal instinct. She is a big help with him and he clings to her when I'm not around She is definitely his second mom.

I didn't think Austin would have much interest in Brayden but boy was I wrong. He can't get enough of him. If he's asleep, Austin wants to wake him up. He is always trying to haul him around and mess with him. He begs to sit by him and hold him in church. They are always wrestling, chasing each other around and making lots of noise. Brayden loves to call Austin on the phone and chat with him. Austin is a great big brother to him and calls him his mini-me. It's amazing to see the difference in the relationship he has with Brayden and Preston.

I'm sure over time their relationships will continue to change I just hope that at some point they will realize how lucky they are to have each other and that they will grow closer and closer!

Mmmm, Mmmm Good!

Brayden was happy to consume leftover cupcakes that Madyson brought home from a party. He looked like he was turning into the hulk by the time he was done. And, of course once the frosting was gone he lost interest in the cupcake, but boy was that frosting good!

Ninja Madyson

Madyson was chosen as student of the month at her Taekwondo school. She has been working hard, showing great attitude and leadership skills and did excellent at her last belt testing.

They had a pizza party and she got to bring friends and teach everyone her favorite move. She chose jump front kick and got to break a board.

She did a great job and is showing off the piece of the board that hit her instructor in the head when she broke the board. Don't mess with this girl!

Bed Bugs

Brayden has decided that he like the big boys beds. Every night when we say it's time to go to bed he runs into Preston's room and jumps into bed with him. They are so cute together. If I thought they might settle down and actually sleep they would be together but I don't think there would be much sleeping going on if they were together! Brayden goes to bed great in his crib so I'm not going to mess with what we have going!

On to bigger and better things

Austin is officially done with elementary and couldn't be more excited. At his 5th grade celebration he received awards for Math, Music, School Service, and Physical Fitness. His class finished by singing Oklahoma rising which the principal thought would be a tear jerker but watching Austin I was trying not to crack up. He mumbled his way through the song with an unparalleled lack of enthusiasm. He does not like to perform!

Later that afternoon the real celebration took place. They had a 5th grade party w/a DJ, bouncy house, dippin dots, games, dancing (which Austin actually participated in and had fun) and of course his all time favorite playground game four square.
Austin w/two of his buddies he loves to hang out with:

LOOK OUT MIDDLE SCHOOL HERE THEY COME!

All Gummed Up

I guess it was inevitable because Bradyen loves gum. We were driving home the other day and he started yelling. I finally figured out the he had stuck his gum in his hair and he was dang mad that he couldn't get it out. I was sure that we were in for a big haircut but thanks to a little goo gone it was out in a jiffy and he still has a full head of hair. I hope he learned his lesson but I'm not counting on it!
